PREVIEW - TIMES UNION     NOVEMBER 24-30, 2005

 Annie and the Hedonists'
debut disc “Side of the Road'
was one of my fave local
albums of 2001, and now the
band is back with their
sophomore CD, “Moonglow on
the Midway.”  And it's just as
good, if not better.  Led by the
sweet vocals of Annie Rosen,
the acoustic quartet (also
featuring guitarist Jonny
Rosen, bassist Betsy Fry
and the muititalented Steve Fry)
seems to know no musical
boundaries as they fearlessly
tackle a batch of jazz
standards, as well as blues,
bluegrass and country music
gems.  Probably the only album
whose song list includes
contributions from Leadbelly,
Merle Travis, Joni Mitchell and
Lucinda Williams. Annie and
the Hedonists celebrate the
new disc with a bash at Caffe
Lena (47 Phila St., Saratoga
Springs) at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Clarinetist Peter Davis, who
guests on the album, will be
sitting in with the band,
